Single Spool Turboprop Engine
A turboprop engine is a turbine engine that drives an aircraft propeller. In contrast to a turbojet, the engine’s exhaust gases do not contain enough energy to create significant thrust, since almost all of the engine’s power is used to drive the propeller.
Single Spool Turboprop Engine – How It Works!!
In a single spool engine, the propeller is driven by the same spool that drives the compressor. Because the propeller needs to rotate at a lower RPM than the turbine, a reduction gearbox reduces the engine spool rotational speed to accommodate the propeller through the propeller drive shaft.
